Q: How do I remove and install a starter motor on a Chevrolet Cruze?
A: Turn the ignition key to OFF, then disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. On 2016 and later models, disconnect and remove the front exhaust pipe. Disconnect the Battery Cable (the larger cable) and the starter control wire from the starter solenoid terminals. On 2016 and later models, remove the battery ground cable bolt and cable (to access the starter lower mounting bolt), then remove the two mounting bolts from the rear of the starter and the bracket. Remove the starter mounting bolts (The upper mounting bolt can be accessed with a socket and long extension) and remove the starter. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten the starter mounting bolts. Reconnect the battery.
