  A: Removal of the wiper arms requires the use of special tool, GM J-8966 or equivalent pry tool. Lift the wiper arm from the window, then insert the tool under the wiper arm. Lever the arm off the transmission drive shaft. Use care not to damage the paint on the vehicle. Remove the Wiper Blade from the arm. To install, install the wiper blade onto the arm, position the wiper arm on the wiper motor drive shaft so that the blade assembly rests in the proper park position, and press down on the wiper arm until it is fully seated on the drive shaft. The same special tool for removal can be used for installation.

Insert the tool or a screwdriver under the wiper arm and pry the arm off the shaft, being careful not to scratch the paint. Disconnect the Washer Pump hose from the arm (if so equipped) and remove the arm. To install, position the arm over the shaft and press down, making sure to install the arms in the same position on the windshield as they were when they were removed. Raising the hood on most later models will facilitate easier wiper arm removal.
