How do you remove the instrument cluster?

To remove the instrument cluster, start by disconnecting the negative cable from the battery. Then, remove the lower left sound insulator panel and the knee bolster. Depending on the make of the vehicle, either remove the instrument cluster bezel for Chevrolet models or the instrument panel trim plate for GMC, Buick, or Oldsmobile models. Next, remove the screws securing the cluster to the instrument panel. Pull the cluster forward enough to disconnect the electrical connectors at the back, and then pull the cluster out, tilting the bottom out first. To install, simply reverse the removal steps.
