A:
To disconnect the instrument cluster on 1995 and later models, follow these steps: Disconnect the negative cable at the battery. Remove the cup holder from the instrument panel. Unhook the 4 clips across the top and 3 across the bottom of the instrument cluster trim panel. Remove the trim panel. Disconnect the electrical connectors for the headlight switch, dimmer control, and accessory switches. Remove the instrument cluster mounting screws. Carefully pull the cluster out of the dash. Note: The instrument cluster and housing should not be separated due to the risk of static electricity damaging the computer chips within the cluster. If the instrument cluster needs replacement, consider taking it to a dealer service department, as exchange units may be available.

Remove the center panel from the lower dash. Remove the shift indicator cable from the steering column shroud. Disconnect the wiring harness by carefully pulling the instrument cluster forward. Remove the cluster. Note: The instrument cluster and housing should not be separated due to the risk of static electricity damaging the computer chips within the cluster. If the instrument cluster needs replacement, it's advisable to take it to a dealer service department.
