To complete the brake shoe installation, follow these steps: Pump the brake pedal and turn the drum to listen for the sound of the shoes rubbing. If they are, turn the adjuster star wheel until the shoes stop rubbing. Install the wheel and lug nuts. Lower the vehicle and tighten the lug nuts to the torque specifications. Make a number of forward and reverse stops to seat the shoes to the drum and to actuate the auto-adjusting mechanism. Check the operation of the parking brake and adjust if necessary. Check the operation of the brakes carefully before driving the vehicle.
