Q:
How do you remove the High Pressure Fuel Pump on Buick LaCrosse? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the fuel pump, start by relieving the fuel system pressure and disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal. If you have a V6 engine, drain the cooling system and remove the thermostat housing. Disconnect the electrical connector and low-pressure fuel line from the pump. Use a flare nut wrench to unscrew the high-pressure fuel line fittings from the pump and fuel rail. Remove the high-pressure fuel pump mounting bolts and the pump itself, replacing the bolts and O-ring with new ones. Before installing the pump, make sure the camshaft lobe is at its base circle. To install the pump, lubricate the pump roller and insert it into its bore. Insert the new bolts through the pump holes and install the gasket to hold the bolts in place. Set the pump into the cylinder head and tighten the bolts evenly to the correct torque specifications. The rest of the installation process involves reversing the removal steps, including cleaning and applying clean engine oil to the high-pressure fuel line fittings on the fuel rails. For V6 engines, reinstall the thermostat housing and refill the cooling system. Finally, reconnect the cable to the negative battery terminal, start the engine, and check for any leaks.

Q:
How to remove and reinstall the fuel pump and fuel pump flow control module in a Chevrolet Camaro? Posted by Customer
A:
There are two fuel pump modules in the vehicle. The primary module consists of the fuel pump, fuel level sending unit, and fuel filter. The secondary module includes a fuel level sending unit and fuel pick up. These components cannot be serviced separately. The fuel pressure is regulated by the Fuel Pump Driver Module (FPDM). To remove the primary module, relieve the fuel system pressure and disconnect the electrical connector and fuel supply line quick-connect fitting. Rotate the locking ring counterclockwise using pliers and carefully pull the module out of the tank, disconnecting the transfer tube. Inspect and replace the O-ring if necessary before reinstalling. For the secondary module, disconnect the electrical connector and rotate the locking ring counterclockwise to remove it. Carefully pull the module out of the tank, disconnecting the transfer tube. Inspect and replace the O-ring as needed before reinstalling. The FPDM, which controls the fuel pump module speed and pressure, is located behind the right-rear quarter trim panel. To access it, remove the rear seat and right-rear quarter trim panel. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the mounting nut to remove the FPDM. Reinstallation is the reverse of removal.

Q:
How can the module lock ring be loosened for the 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? Posted by Customer
A:
The tangs of the module lock ring should be sprayed with penetrating oil, and then water pump pliers can be used to remove the lock ring. If it's stuck, tapping it with a hammer and brass punch may be necessary.
