How to remove the alternator from a Pontiac G6?

To disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal, you must remove the belt. In order to remove it from a four-cylinder model, you will need to take off the air intake duct and upper radiator hose. For four cylinder engines, pull up on the release tab of the connector and pull it out straight. Removing the alternator's electrical connector for a four-cylinder engine requires that one lifts the release tab with a prying tool before pulling out. The drivebelt idler pulley has to be removed on 3.6L models first. After removing the alternator mounting bolts, lift it out of there carefully but beware not to damage anything else in engine compartment. Remove three mounting bolts when taking off an alternator for a 4-cylinder engine; while for a V6 engine, disconnect its electrical connector and battery cable then remove front mounting bolt and two backside ones (one bolt is not seen). However, getting this device out in 3.6L models may seem tricky at first glance.
