How to install the shift lever assembly in a Cadillac DeVille and DTS?

Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Remove the console trim plate. If equipped, remove the anti-theft plate. Remove the left side trim plate from the console. Disconnect the shift cable from the automatic transmission shift levers by prying the cable end off the ballstud. Disconnect the park/lock cable from the automatic transmission shift levers. Remove the retaining nuts and lift the automatic transmission shift levers assembly out of the vehicle. To install the automatic transmission shift levers assembly, place the floor shift control assembly in position on the mounting studs and install the nuts. Connect the shift and park/lock cables. If equipped, install the anti-theft plate. Install the console trim plates. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
