Chevrolet Metro A/C Condenser Parts Questions & Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install a condenser in a Chevrolet Metro?
A: First, remove the grille. After that, detach the vertical brace. Dispose the auxiliary electric fan. The condenser can also be pulled out along with the fan or by itself. Disconnect the refrigerant lines from the condenser assembly. Do not twist them ensuring you use a backup wrench. Later, cover all open fittings to keep off dust and moisture. Then, unscrew it and lift it from the car cautiously avoiding oil loss on its side. To replace it follow its reverse order as given below: Insert 0.7 to 10 ounces (20 to 30 cc's) of refrigerant oil into system if new condenser was installed. The last step is to have it evacuated, charged and leak tested by the shop which discharged it.
