How to detach and install the ignition system assembly and coils?

Detach the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Caution: On models equipped with the Theftlock audio system, be sure the lockout feature is turned off before performing any procedure which requires disconnecting the battery. Unplug the electrical connectors from the module. If the plug wires are not numbered, label them and detach the plug wires at the coil assembly. Remove the module/coil assembly mounting bolts and lift the assembly from the vehicle. Remove the bolts attaching the coils to the module and separate them. Installation is the reverse of removal. When installing the coils, make sure they are connected properly. Detach the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Disconnect the IDI electrical connector. Remove the ignition system assembly-to-camshaft housing bolts. Lift the ignition system assembly from the engine. Detach the coil housing-to-cover screws and remove the housing from the cover. Detach the coil electrical connectors. Remove the coils. Remove the module-to-cover screws and detach the module from the cover. Installation is the reverse of removal.
