Chevrolet Cruze Water Pump Parts Questions & Answers
Q: How to remove the water pump on Chevrolet Cruze?
A: To remove the water pump on 2015 and earlier 1.4L models, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal, remove the air filter housing, and loosen the right front wheel lug nuts. Remove the wheel and drain the cooling system. Take off the drive belt, right-side engine mount, and mount bracket. Remove the water pump pulley bolts and pulley, then proceed to remove the Thermostat and disconnect the heater hose from the water pump. Remove the water pump bolts, the water pump, and its gasket from the timing chain cover. Clean the bolt threads and threaded holes in the engine, and remove any corrosion or sealant. Make sure to eliminate all traces of old gasket material from the sealing surfaces. For the 1.8L engine, remove the water pump pulley bolts and the pulley, then unscrew the water pump mounting bolts and remove the pump, discarding the old 0-ring. Clean the bolt threads and threaded holes, as well as the mating surfaces of the water pump and engine block. Install a new 0-ring into the groove on the water pump, then install the water pump and bolts, tightening them in a crisscross pattern to the torque specifications. For all models, install the water pump pulley and tighten its bolts to the specified torque. Complete the remaining steps in the reverse order of removal, refill the cooling system, reconnect the battery, and operate the engine to check for leaks.
