A: Engage the engine in every gear on vehicles fitted with automatic transmissions. The engine should turn only when in Park or Neutral. If there is a manual gearbox, put the shifting lever in neutral and push the clutch half way down. With full depression of the clutch pedal, the engine might start. Ensure that the steering column lock permits insertion of key into Lock position only if for auto transaxle when Park is selected or manual transaxle Reverse is selected. The ignition key should come out only in the Lock position.
