About Chevrolet SSR

Chevrolet SSR (Super Sport Roadster) is a retractable hardtop convertible pickup truck manufactured by General Motors' brand Chevrolet from 2003 to 2006. The first Chevrolet SSR was introduced in 2003. Though it is a very young vehicle, since its production, it became the pace car for the 2003 Indianapolis 500 auto race.
Chevrolet SSR was designed based on the Supersport Roadster concept car that shown at the 2000 Detroit Auto Show. It had a unique debut that it appeared officially for the first time in a 60-second television advertisement on New Year's Eve 2003. As a 2-door muscle truck and a 2-door convertible, form 2003 to 2004, Chevrolet SSR was powered by General Motors' Vortec 5300 engine, a 5.3 L 300 hp LM4 V8 engine. And the 2005 and 2006 models were powered by a 6.0 L 390 hp LS2 V8 engine mated to the 6-speed Tremec T-56 manual and 4-speed automatic transmissions. For 2006 model year, Chevrolet SSR's 6.0 L V8 engine was upgraded to 395 hp for automatic transmission and 400 hp for manual transmission.

Chevrolet SSR Common Problems & Maintenance Tips

Even as such a young model, Chevrolet SSR still could not beat the natural law. After it reached a certain mileage, problems start to show on it according to Chevrolet SSR owners. And here are two most common problems:
First, multiple electrical issues. Actually, in modern vehicles, electrical problems are really not rare. In Chevrolet SSR, owners described that Check Engine Light would come on as well as bad gas mileage and rough idle happened a lot. This is caused by a bad oxygen sensor. As for having to press multiple times to roll window up or down, slower or faster window speed, you can attribute this to a broken window regulator in your Chevrolet SSR.
Second, overheating problem. This overheating problem in Chevrolet SSR is often caused by leaking coolant, which is complained many times by drivers. Engine overheating and the Low Coolant Light come on are the common signs of a damaged or collapsed cooling hose or radiator hose. As engine overheating would shorten your Chevrolet SSR's lifespan, so please get new replacements as soon as possible.
Emblem, as the signal of your Chevrolet SSR, may get scratched or faded as time passes by. In order to keep your SSR at the best shape, do not forget to get shining emblem. Headlight is also useful in lighting road ahead; wheel cover is helpful in stopping accumulation of dirt and moisture on wheels so that wheels could move smoothly, they are both important for your driving safety.
