Remove the transmission. Remove the driveplate. Pop the Crankshaft Seal off the rear cover by using a screwdriver; one should be very careful not to mar the crankshaft or the seal bore. See how deep down the old seal is flushed into the housing bore prior to its removal to allow for a corresponding depth of the new seal. Wipe out the seal bore in the block with shop rag effectively so that no oil and dirt will be present. Apply oil to the outer periphery of the TS and place it over the crankshaft's end where the lip of the TS should be directed toward the engine. If ever possible to redo this, use seal installation tool to push the new seal back into place; otherwise such a large socket, a section of pipe or blunt tool would have to carefully hammer the new seal into the seal bore until it is flush with the rear cover. Last but not the least, the driveplate should be fitted, and then the transmission could be put into the car.
