Q: How to remove and install an axle shaft on 4WD 2015 Cadillac Escalade?
A: To demount the driveaxle, turn the wheel lug nuts and raise the front of the vehicle using the jack; after that, fasten it with the jackstands and unscrew the wheel. In case the cover comes in place, remove it with the aid of a hammer and chisel. Succeeding this, unscrew the driveaxle/hub nut while holding the hub from turning with a large prybar across two wheel studs or by placing a long punch or screwdriver through the brake caliper ventilation slot into the disc cooling slots. It is necessary to buy a new driveaxle/hub nut for effective assembly of the car again. If so, pull the differential carrier splash shield, then pull out the drive axel to axel shaft flange nuts with the help of an assistant to step on the brake to prevent turning of the drive axel. Lift the outer axial end of the drive.axle vertically upwards to loosen it from the axleshaft flange, lower the inner end of the driveaxle, and pull the stub shaft out of the hub while directing the driveaxle out from under the vehicle. If required, the stabilizer bar link must be removed to have clearance and to have the stub shaft out of the hub splines, it must be hit with a brass punch and hammer or with the help of a puller the driveaxle must be forced out from the hub. In case of installation, new hub nut should be used while the splines on the stub shaft must be oiled with multi-purpose grease and the process followed the reverse of removal. Make sure that the driveaxle/hub nut and flange bolts are tightened to the torque listed and the wheel lug nuts.
