If the engine has been removed from the car, disregard the following steps which do not apply. Begin by removing the engine drive belts for each accessory. Next, take off the right front fender inner splash shield to provide working clearance. With the parking brake applied and the shifter in "Park" (automatic) or in gear (manual) to prevent the engine from turning over, remove the crank pulley bolt, using a breaker bar if necessary due to the considerable torque. Mark the position of the pulley to the hub before removing it, then detach the bolts securing the crank pulley to the hub and lift it out. Use a crank hub puller to remove the hub from the
Crankshaft. Carefully pry out the oil seal from the front cover with a large screwdriver, ensuring not to distort the cover. Install the new seal with the helical lip toward the rear of the engine, driving it into place with a special tool or an appropriately sized socket, or a flat block of wood if there is enough room. Apply a light coat of oil to the inside lip of the seal. Position the pulley hub on the crankshaft and, using a slight twisting motion, slide it through the seal until it bottoms against the crankshaft gear, using the crank pulley hub bolt to press it into position. Install the crank pulley onto the hub, aligning it with the marks made during removal, then install the crank pulley hub bolt and torque it to specifications. Complete the installation by reversing the removal steps and tightening the drive belts to their proper tension.
