In order to remove components, it is necessary to disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Subsequently, remove the suspension cross brace from the front struts and as well, the engine cowling. Move on to remove the intake manifold, drivebelts, tensioners, siphon off the coolant. Next, it is necessary to strip the engine of its alternator, together with the bracket that was bolted to the top of it and the valve covers. Remove the air filter and air intake duct, and the upper and lower radiator hoses, the coolant recovery hose, the cooling fans, the drivebelt, and the coolant outlet pipe. Take off the crankshaft balancer and bolts that secure the power steering pump reservoir along with the related brackets without the required opening of the power steering line; set the reservoir and this bracket in some way as an assembly out of the way of the work. Subsequently, unbolt the A/C compressor and related brackets with the least disconnection of any of the A/C refrigerant lines while allowing the compressor plus brackets, as a single unit to be lifted out of the operational area. Remove the wiring connectors of CMP sensors, and the variable cam timing solenoids from the side of the engines. The timing cover mounting bolts should be torqued in sequence while the water pump is still attached then slowly pull the timing cover away from the block carefully using a screwdriver on specific areas of the cover that retains it on the block while one needs to be very careful not to damage the aluminum cover. A new timing seal should be put in the timing cover and before assembling the timing cover over the crankshaft and studs the RTV sealant should be applied onto the mating space; the bolts should be put tightly by hand. Screw in two 8mm studs into the mentioned places on the engine block so as to guide the timing cover into compactness, and after that, remove the studs and equally tighten the timing cover bolts to the recommended torque. That part of the installation proceeds in the reverse of the removal procedure.
