The windshield wiper and blade assembly should then, be checked periodically for any signs of damage or any loose component, and further, cracks or wear and tear on any part of the blade elements. This film forms on the wiper blades and hampers their functioning hence the wiper blades should be washed with a mild detergent solution. In the event the wiper blade elements are chipped, thinning or bent or do not clean well enough they should be replaced. In order for the wiper blade to be removed, pull up on the arm assembly to provide sufficient clearance and unlatch the trim cover; to accomplish this, there will be a hook at the end of the arm on the wiper blade assembly, so to free the blade holder one needs only to pull up the plastic cover of the cowl, and then pull the wiper blade towards the arrow to detach itself from the arm. Finally slot in the new wiper into the arm to make sure it 'clicks' into position.
