The windshield wiper and blade assembly entails the wiper arm and the blade that wipe the windshield and should be checked periodically for indications of damage in the frame, loosened components, presence of cracked or worn units in the blade parts. Since the wiper blades are used to clean the road film on the windshield, they must be kept clean so as to be effective in their work; this can be done by washing them with mild detergent solution. The working of the wiping mechanism can cause loose bolts, nuts, and fasteners that should be tightened whenever one is checking on the wiper blades. If the elements of the wiper blade are in bad shape which includes being cracked, WORN or warped the new ones should be fitted. In early models pull on the wiper blade while inserting a thin screwdriver to engage the release lever and then disengage the spring. Once the blade has been slid off, then the rubber element can be pulled out with the fingers, with the help of a metal backing or a retaining clip. After determining the length of the new element as well as its design, the user can then position the new element and then it will snap to the correct position, since the position will already be locked. Place the blade back on to the arm, dampen the windshield glass and try the proper functioning of the blade. For the subsequent models, its dismantling involves pulling the wiper blade off the windshield, press a button, and sliding the whole blade in the wiper's hook and gently placing the wiper on the windshield. The rubber wiper is fitted at one end of the blade element channel; pull the locking feature on the element to clear the tangs on the claw of assembly channel and remove the element from the frame. In some models, there may be some specific rubber element which is not available separately, and this will entail replacing the whole blade. This is simply the opposite of the removal process, checking whether the rubber element and the blade assembly are well anchored before wiping the windshield glass then checking if the wiper works as required.
