Before performing any component removal or installation, turn off the engine, open the hood, and turn the ignition switch off and remove the negative battery cable also disable SIR system for the model 1990 to 1993 Deville and Fleetwood. Pull out the screws and shrinks nuts to disengage the sound insulators, thereafter, gently breaking the heating/air conditioning outlets off the upper trim pad. Remove the upper trim pad, including its screws and the glove box module and also the I/V TEMA wiring connector. When solar sensor and the upper trim pad have been uninstalled, the next step is to uninstall the steering column fillers, and lower the steering column. Some of the internal connectors need to be disconnected and some trim pad needs to be pulled out which might mean that other parts have to be unbolted. Screw, put-in, position and connect the wiring connector in the pad lower trim assembly installation to the vehicle. Steering column and its reinforcement plate, lower trim pad support and sound insulators have to be reinstalled and the SIR system has to be enabled before connecting the battery cable. The process of dismantling a 1994-98 Eldorado and Seville starts with battery disconnect and SIR system disablement after which, the sound insulators, the trim plates and, instrument panel are removed. Subsequently for the installation, the wiring connectors are detached and instrument panel is removed and then the instrument panel is fixed in place by nuts and bolts along with the required wiring power connectors are connected. On the 1992-98 Eldorado and Seville, the removal started with the removal of the defroster grille, upper trim panel, and the instrument cluster and then followed by the detachment of the glove compartment assembly, and the sound insulators. The reverse is followed while installing it; all the components are fastened properly and the SIR system activated before joining the battery cable.
