  A: The removal and installation of various Cadillac model's steering wheels are done following these steps: To start, disconnect the negative battery cable and disable the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system, turn off the ignition, and pull out the specified SIR fuse depending on the model year. Sound insulator will be removed when necessary. The bolts/screws at the back of the wheel are to be taken off and electrical connectors disconnected so as to remove inflator module. When handling a live inflator module, it should be positioned safely to reduce chances of accidentally deploying it. Remove the steering column shaft nut and mark the alignment if necessary.
