How to remove and install the Transmission Pan on Cadillac ElDorado?

The removal and installation of a 4T60 and 4T60-E transaxle begins with lifting the car then supporting it. Place a drain bucket under the transmission pan of the transaxle, remove the front and side retaining bolts for the pan. To drain some fluids, loosen rear bolts and pry loose pan. Remove all remaining bolts as well as pan that holds the screen/filter of transaxle. Ensure you clean for any foreign material on both screens and pans if necessary. Clean all gasket mating surfaces and check for distortion in pan flange. Then new filter and screen should be installed followed by new gasket & pan. Lower vehicle & fill with fluid to capacity. Start engine & check for leaks. Now, with regard to 4T80-E transaxles, lift out the vehicle while aiding its support and put a drain container under transmission pan. Cause fluid to flow by loosening bottom case plate screws. Remove remaining transmission oil by allowing it to spill out through plug in case. Besides left scavenge screens, right scavenger screens; lip seals inspection must be carried out to determine whether they require replacement. The presence of dents or nicks on both pans or cases would cause leakage. Properly clean hole taps, bolts screens & pads. Install drain plug; seal & screen. Tighten bolts in three steps. Lower vehicle with sufficient amount of suitable liquid. Check level of fluids when engine is fired up.
