This procedure is done on both front and rear door window regulators and depending on which supplier provides the regulator replacement assembly, may or may not come with a new motor. Changing the motor is quite easy; three bolts hold the motor, and they have to be replaced on the new regulator assembly in the same positions. This should be done by first, taking out the door trim panel as well as the watershield. Connect the window switch back and open or close the window to the halfway so that one gets physical contact with the bolts that hold the glass to the track. If the regulator is jammed or the cable has snapped, with the help of wire cutters may be used to cut the regulator drive cables, this way you may lift the window to remove the bolts. The window regulator assembly is made up of two guides and cables; when pulling out the regulator away from the door, it is advisable to squash the two guides together to enable a proper pull. Rear access type doors of models with extended cabs and having pick-up type construction has one regulator for this door but removal process is similar. Subsequently, take out the five screws on the window regulator to the door and the two on the track guides, if it has one; or else cover it with the door window glass if not required. Take off the regulator from the door and remember the position in which it has been removed to make a correct setting when reinstalling it. Removal is the exact opposite of installation. When replacing rear sliding window regulator you should move both front seats back and remove rear one if it is possible. If required, TDI the rear passenger seat belt shoulder guide and lower bolt of the seat belt anchor plate. Unbolt the rear trim panel if there is any; if there is a connector box for the seat belt, pass it through. On four-door models place also take off the side trim panels. Pull the window open to a point that is approximately two inches so as to reduce pressure at the ends of the cable to facilitate the removal process. It is if the motor is jammed or the cable has snapped to use regulator cables to move the window. Find the two cable ends that are provided on the window track, push the cable spring downward, and remove the cable end from the track guide. Remove the screw that holds the regulator assembly to the cab, pull the electrical connection of the motor, and pull the regulator assembly. Installation on the other hand occurs in the reverse sequence, in regard to removal. For slide window motor replacement, perform the procedure as the regulator assembly removal and then, take the three fasteners holding the motor to the regulator into consideration but do not forget the motor to regulator orientation during the reassembly. Removal: installation is the reverse of the above.
