To replace the windshield wiper motor you have to pry off the wiper trim caps, remove each wiper arm retaining nut, locate the relationship between the wiper arms and shaft so you can reinstall them later and then remove the wiper arms. Subsequently, remove the respective windshield wiper retaining nuts and washers and reflect the position of every wiper-arm referring to its shaft. Disconnect the windshield wiper motor connector, then disconnect the cowl cover and then take out the three screws that are usually hidden at the back of the wiper motor and linkage assembly of the cowl. Raise it higher out of the cowl area and clip the linkage off the wiper motor's crank arm. Loosen and pullout the nut connecting the actuator arm to the motor shaft; note the position of the crank arm relative to the motor shaft before pulling out the actuator arm, and the three motor mounting bolts. Next step is disbudding of the motor mounting screws and then, the motor can be pulled out. To gain access to the rear wiper motor on the SUV models, the liftgate interior trim panel, the wiper arm, the nut on the wiper motor pivot shaft and two nuts holding the wiper motor to the liftgate must be removed. Slide the wiper motor back from the liftgate and remove the electrical connector, then to reassemble reconnect and tighten the pivot nut to 80 in-lbs. This is done on the washer fluid reservoir by first removing it, disconnecting the electrical connector and then emptying it before finally pulling our the washer pump with a twisting motion. If needed, use old rubber grommet; if not, replace the new one with that brought along with the new pump. The grommet must be inserted and the pump positioned into the reservoir with a slight twist and to do this silicone spray lubricant must be applied. To service the windshield washer nozzle, the cowl panel is taken off, followed by twisting the washer hose counter clockwise on the nozzles, then pressing down the locking tabs on the two sides of the nozzle and then pulling it out of the cowling to be refitted in the reverse process. Screw the nozzle with a sewing needle for providing the best spray pattern on the wind shield. This is a multi-function switch from which the wiper switch is derived, and the switch on the steering column shall be withdrawn and plugged in a particular manner.
