- Q: How to replace the electric window motor on Cadillac Fleetwood?A:Replacing an electric window motor on these 1996-93 Deville and Fleetwood units requires that you take out the Window Regulator and that you use a 3/16 in. I charged the Nicad battery pack, put on my 4.8mm boots, goggles and fastened my harness, put the regulator on the car and then take the motor off the regulator. To install the product securely, the regulator is to be fixed on the motor utilizing three-sixteenth inch. rivets and reinstall the window regulator in the vehicle." When replacing a 1996-91 Eldorado or Seville front door, the window regulator needs to be removed and a hole drilled through the regulator sector gear and back plate to lock the sector gear in place; the hole should be at least 1/2 in. (13mm) from the edge. Remove the four A18 rivets from the front plate to detour the motor, then screw the motor to the regulator on four stucks of 3/16 inch. rivets, and when screws of lock are loosened and nut unscrewed the window regulator will be reinstalled. In the rear door, the process is similar: take off the window regulator, use a drill to take off the motor attaching rivets, thereafter, use a 3/16 in. screws and replace the window regulator again and again. In case of 1992-98 Eldorado and Seville and 1994-98 deville, initial step is removal of the door panel and water deflector, then one has to disconnect motor wiring connector and lastly remove the three retaining nuts to pull out the motor. Retain the motor to the retaining nuts, reconnect the wires, re-fit the water deflector and finally replace the door panel.
