Chevrolet Avalanche Harmonic Balancer

The Harmonic Balancer is found in Chevrolet Avalanche cars andFunctions; it is utilized in balancing the Engine and absorbing vibrations created by the combustion cycle. It is mostly a metal hub which is fitted to crank shaft and has a massive metal inertia ring and a rubber ring in between which absorbs and yields to the out of balance twisting of the crank shaft. This design is useful in controlling unnecessary oscillations and possible crankshaft harm in the operation of engines. Several kinds of harmonic balancers are employed in Avalanche models through the years, ranging from the standard original equipment and types of performance balanced. Standard balancers can accomplish factory-tuned motors as they provide tight vibrations but, they can hardly guard enhanced engines that receive immense vibrations. Traditional, viscous fluid and multi-piece performance harmonic balancers are designed to sustain extra high RPM, and offer added durability for high output engines.

Each OEM Chevrolet Avalanche Harmonic Balancer we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Chevrolet Avalanche Harmonic Balancer Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install a harmonic balancer on 4.3L V6 engine on Chevrolet Avalanche?
A: Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Remove the engine cooling fan, then remove the engine drivebelt. Remove the bolts and separate the crankshaft pulley from the harmonic balancer. Remove the large harmonic balancer-to-crankshaft bolt. To keep the crankshaft from turning, remove the starter and have an assistant wedge a large screwdriver against the ring gear teeth. A chain or strap wrench can also be used to secure the balancer. Using the proper puller, detach the harmonic balancer from the crankshaft. Be careful not to lose the Woodruff key. Make a written note of any weights used in the balancer, their locations, and lengths. These weights must be installed in exactly the same way when the balancer is installed. If a new harmonic balancer is being installed, transfer the weight(s) to the new balancer in the proper location(s). Make sure the woodruff key is in place, then position the harmonic balancer on the crankshaft and slide it on as far as it will go. Use a small dab of RTV sealant on the keyway of the balancer before installation. Note that the slot (keyway) in the hub must be aligned with the Woodruff key at the end of the crankshaft. Using a harmonic balancer installation tool, press the balancer onto the crankshaft. Note that the crankshaft bolt can also be used to press the crankshaft balancer into position, but when doing so, use a liberal amount of clean engine oil on the bolt threads to prevent galling. Make sure the raised crown of the balancer bolt washer is away from the crankshaft. Tighten the crankshaft bolt to the torque specifications. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal.
