Chevrolet Avalanche Oil Pump

The Oil Pump is installed in Chevrolet Avalanche vehicles and its principle function is to distribute oil under pressure to areas in the engine include bearings and pistons for cooling them. It also serves as a lubricant of power-operated hydraulic circuits and as a lubricant and coolant for several minor operating devices and actuators. Different kinds of oil pumps are used in the Avalanche models, and these include gear, trochoid and vane pumps; mechanical pumps are common due to their durability. The oiling processes include pumping oil from the sump to a filter/cooler then circulating the oil by a distributor to create the optimal oil pressure that is requisite for an engine's performance. Complex multistage high-performance Avalanche engines may have more enhanced lubrication system such as the dry sump systems employing multiple pumps for the circulation of oil. One has to change the system oil and filter frequently so as to enable the free flow of the same through a system that doesn't clog up hence prolonging the engineer's lifespan.

Each OEM Chevrolet Avalanche Oil Pump we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Chevrolet Avalanche Oil Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install an oil pump on 4.3L V6 engine on Chevrolet Avalanche?
A: Remove the Oil Pan. While supporting the oil pump, remove the pump-to-rear main bearing cap bolt. Lower the pump and remove it along with the pump driveshaft. If a new oil pump is installed, make sure the pump driveshaft is mated with the shaft inside the pump and a new driveshaft retainer is used. Position the pump over the dowel pins on the rear main cap and make sure the slot in the upper end of the driveshaft is aligned with the tang on the lower end of the oil pump driveshaft. The oil pump driveshaft drives the oil pump, so it is absolutely essential that the components mate properly. Also, note that no gasket is used between the oil pump and the rear main cap. Install the mounting bolt and tighten it to the torque specifications. Install the oil pan and refill the engine with fresh oil. The remainder of assembly is the reverse of the disassembly procedures.
