  • Q: How do you release the parking brake cable?
    A: You can let go of the parking brake by unfastening the lugnuts on your back wheel in case you want to remove a rear cable first. After that, lift the vehicle and put it in place using jack stands before taking out its tire. To relieve pressure from the front cable, try loosening the adjusting nut. Next, remove the parking brake pedal assembly from the kick panel and pull out a plug at one end of the cord from an aperture in a ratchet cam. Squash down on two prongs near the rope socket and draw it through its bracket. Disengage forward one for front cables from connector located behind equalizer under vehicle . The reverse of removal is installation so have this mind when you are done with everything else never forget that you need to adjust cable. For left rear cable, if necessary release cable adjusting nut and disengage front end of cable from connector. Pinch together the fingers of ferrule which holds the wire at free end equalizer and slide out strung cord through it. Unscrew adjuster nut completely on right rear cable then disengage this string from equalizer Remove loose nuts holding clamp around right side of steering system Squeeze finger on ferrule griping wire channel then slip string over its holder or bracket Find this hose back along right rear wheel's side until it clips onto differential Disconnect parking brake lever from drum type shoes fitted into backing plate by removing their bolts While disconnecting park brake cables other than levered ones Rear brakes should be returned into initial shape including making use of adjusted new pads.
