To remove the front bumper cover, open the hood and take out the plastic push-pin fasteners along the upper edge and the bumper-to-fender bolts at the top. Loosen the front wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle securely on jackstands, and remove the front wheels. For ZL1 models, detach the valance fasteners and the valance from each side. Remove the lower fasteners of the bumper cover, noting that Base, RS, and SS models have only two lower fasteners located toward the bottom edge. Take out both inner fender splash shields and the fasteners securing the inner fender to the bumper cover. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the fog lamps if equipped, and disengage the clips securing the upper rear edges of the bumper cover to the fender. Conduct a final inspection with a flashlight to ensure the bumper cover is completely detached, all electrical connectors are disconnected, and wiring harnesses are safely out of the way. With assistance, remove the front bumper cover, and installation is the reverse of removal. For the rear bumper cover, loosen the rear wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle securely on jackstands, and remove the rear wheels. Access the rear bumper cover screws by removing the wheel well splash shield. Remove the screws from the underside of each upper front corner of the bumper cover and the pin-type fasteners from the underside of the rear bumper cover. Open the trunk and remove the taillight filler panel fasteners and the panel. Disconnect the rear lighting main harness connectors from each side. Use a small screwdriver to push in the tabs of the bumper cover opening one at a time while pulling down on the cover to gradually release it. Conduct a final inspection with a flashlight to ensure the bumper cover is completely detached, all electrical connectors are disconnected, and wiring harnesses are safely out of the way. With assistance, remove the rear bumper cover, and installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring to get help when positioning the bumper cover back.
