For the rectangular motor type, the washer pump can be removed in the absence of the washer or separately by disconnecting the hoses and wiring and by removing the screws and lifting off the pump. The four lobe washer pump drive cam should be pulled off, most probably, with a help of a flathead screwdriver, as it is press-fitted. Subsequently, the washer at the wiper shaft is unscrewed; the screw of the ratchet dog is removed to lift the solenoid and the dog from the frame of the pump and, if necessary, to detach the dog from the mounting plate. The ratchet wheel is removed by pulling out the spring from the groove of the shaft to enable the wheel to slide on. The pump and pump actuator plate are released by pulling the pump housing to the valve end until the grooves are out of the frame and reassembly is done in the reverse manner, and installation as well is done in reverse order. In the round motor type, the hoses of washers and wires from the pump relay are disconnected, and the cover made of plastic of the pump is unbolted. The frame screws are removed and this pulls out the pump and frame; the screw is then removed to shift the ratchet dog off the mounting plate. The pawl spring is released from the pawl, thus enabling the pawl to get off the cam follower pin. To do this the ratchet spring is lifted out of the shaft slot, while pressing down the relay armature against the relay coil the ratchet wheel is slid off the shaft. The retainer is unscrewed and the cam is thus pulled off the shaft and the relay armature and spring is also taken out. Just like the number 10 C-Clip, the four tabs fitting the coil mounting bracket are engraved to clear the relay coil and terminal board. The pump head and the holder is separated by pulling this towards the valve end until the grooves disengage the base and the cam follower pin thereby enabling the service of the piston and the plastic housing in one piece. The valve can be separated from the pump housing and the screws, numbered from 1 to 4 in order to demount it but before that the position of the valve relative to the housing must be noted down. Disassembly on the other hand is done in the opposite order so as to guarantee that the
Wiper Motor is in the 'Park' position after the assembling process of the pump and the wiper motor.
