Start the job by lifting the window, taking off the door trim panel, and pulling away the watershield on Cobalt/G5 cars. Separate the rod connecting the door handle from the Door Latch Assembly workings, and remove any electrical wires linked to the Door Latch Assembly unit. Take out all Door Latch Assembly mounting screws and let the handle, cable/rods, and Door Latch Assembly slide out of their position in the door. Installation is the reverse of removal. Inside the door, disconnect the outer handle bolt up front. Push the lock cylinder rod out of the plastic holder to release it, and remove the lock cylinder mounting screws. Installation follows the reverse procedure. Use a push tool to remove the storm shield and door trim panel beforehand when removing the rear doors. When you want to take out the outside door handle, loosen two screws and unhook the handle from the Door Latch Assembly rod. You access the "rear seat access" doors in coups by pulling on a handle at the front of the door using the opening of the front door. Throughout each door's length, a single handle works both Door Latch Assemblies at once. Take off the handle by unscrewing both holding screws, pulling it upward, and unconnecting its two wires. To get the upper Door Latch Assembly off, open the door, start by taking off the upper interior trim panels, unscrew the Door Latch Assembly from the door frame, then unhook the cable. First take the door's outer panel off, then unmount and pull out the lower Door Latch Assembly along with its attached cables. Setting up the handle and Door Latch Assemblies goes exactly like when we took them down.
