When working in the inner parts of the door, ensure the battery and window switch are disconnected to prevent severe personal injury from the "Express" feature, which sends the window to its lowest position with one touch. The window regulator and motor are serviced as a complete unit. To replace the power window regulator assembly, first remove the appropriate door panel and the water vapor barrier. Then, take out the door speaker and place the window in the full UP position before disconnecting the electrical connector from the regulator motor, which can be accessed from the speaker cavity. If the regulator cable is stuck or the motor is unresponsive, cut the cable to manually raise the glass to the closed position. Mark the window's location and remove the window glass, then take out the rubber plug at the bottom of the door edge to prevent dirt and moisture from entering. Remove the fasteners securing the window regulator and motor assembly to the door, ensuring to check for the one at the bottom. Some holes for the tracks and motor are slotted, allowing you to leave bolts in place on the cable assembly loosely, which helps hang the regulator assembly correctly during reinstallation. Fold the cable and track arms up to fit through the opening where the water shield was, taking care not to kink or bend the cable assembly and maintaining the same orientation for reinstallation. After replacing the window regulator or disconnecting the battery, recalibration of the windows is necessary. Installation follows the reverse order of removal.
