  A: When removing the cables, always take away the negative battery cables first and hook them up last so that you may not inadvertently short circuit the battery with the tool you are using to loosen the cable clamps. Even you replace only the cable for positive terminal, thereafter remember to disconnect the negative cable from battery. If replacing any of them, take with when buying new ones.
