- Q: How to remove the steering wheel on Chevrolet HHR?A:Pull the vehicle into a straight position and remove the negative cable from the battery. Disable the airbag system. To remove the airbag module while the steering wheel sits at 3 o'clock, use a blunt rounded tool to press both sides of the retaining clip on each side of the wheel until the airbag post detaches. To access the steering wheel's electrical connectors, you need to gently pull the airbag module away from its place near the wheel. Put aside the nut that holds the steering wheel onto the shaft, and note how they match up. With two clamped claw ends, insert the steering wheel puller into its correct holes before pulling out the steering wheel. Make sure the puller's screw tightens against the steering wheel bolt or shaft. Disconnect all loose electrical cables. Undo the puller, pull up the steering wheel, and push the wiring adapter forward through the wheel's hole. To take off the clockspring, start by removing the steering column covers. Then disconnect the clockspring's electric wires. Push the multi-function clockspring free from the steering column by spreading the retaining tab, sliding it out. Put the clockspring in place properly by placing it in the center so the direction markings line up on the clockspring surface.
