Before the elimination of the primary latch, it is necessary to release the hood ajar switch if it is installed, and then release the cables of the lock from the clips on the radiator support. Locate the position where the mounting bolts of the latch and the body are positioned then remove the bolts which hold the latch to the core support, and free the hooks of the hood release cables from the latch levers by separating the head of the cables from the housing. Pull out the latch cables from the clips, pull the lever with hand to release the end of primary cable from the slot, press the tabs, and insert the cable housing through the hole to take out the latch assembly. For installation reverse the process of removal, fix the latch in the correct position by the help of lines marked before. To remove the secondary latch you can take out the mounting bolts for it and unplug the cable from either of the latches. To discharge the primary cable and interior release handle, remove and re-locate coolant expansion tank without removing the cooling hoses, then separate the primary release latch from the clips and pulled out the mounting bolts. Insert the hood release cable grommet in the firewall, insert a flat screwdriver under the tab of the release handle then pull it off the knee bolster panel, then unlock the interior handle and link it with the other end of the cable. For easy pulling of the old cable through the firewall, it is advisable to attach a piece of string or small wire on the cable. Installation is the reverse of the removal process For instance, if the string or wires where used to pull the cable through the firewall then use the same to pull the new cable through the same wall.
