A: To take away the parking brake cable, first you must position the front wheels of your vehicle in a way that they become locked and then lift the rear up and support it safely. After that, remove both brake drums and Brake Shoes. The next step is to disconnect parking brake cables from the said lever using needle-nose pliers. Use pliers to squeeze the tangs on Metro models so as to detach its cable retainer from the backing plate. However, for Sprint models one should extract the cable retention clip before detaching it from that same backing plate. Detach this cable under each body attachment point after all is finished. Ultimately, have this cable disconnected off of parking brake level inside passenger room compartment. Reverse installation process while using silicone sealer to seal area where cable contacts backing plate. Make adjustments to cables when done with installation.
