Chevrolet Metro Trailing Arm

Chevrolet Metro Trailing Arm keeps the small hatchback firmly in line by connecting the rear axle to the chassis, allowing the wheels to run smoothly over bumps. It prevents any unwanted fore-aft wandering that would spoil control. In the early models, the system applied a simple live axle configuration in which two links paired with a Panhard rod were applied to guide each Trailing Arm. This provided sturdy handling in rough city streets without adding too much weight. Later versions of the Chevrolet Metro were fitted with an independent rear layout that replaced the rod with a wider, roughly triangular Trailing Arm design pivoting ahead of the wheel. Each side reacted on its own for a gentler ride and flatter cargo floor. No matter what the style, each Trailing Arm mounts its wheel on one single forward pivot, so the tire maintains its optimum camber when cornering and the cabin is more secure at speed. Owners of a later Chevrolet Metro will find that this Trailing Arm arrangement also allows for space under the back seat to be freed up, leaving extra room for luggage on weekend trips.

Each OEM Chevrolet Metro Trailing Arm we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Chevrolet Metro Trailing Arm Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install a Coil Springs and Trailing Arm on Chevrolet Metro?
    A:
To begin, block the front wheels and securely support the rear of the vehicle. Remove the rear wheel(s) and reference mark the position of the cam for rear toe adjustment. Loosen the nuts mounting the trailing arm to the body and the knuckle-to-trailing arm mounting nut. Place a jack under the trailing arm to prevent it from lowering. Remove the lower mount nut of the knuckle and raise the jack enough to remove the knuckle-to-trailing arm mounting bolt. Separate the knuckle from the trailing arm and gradually lower the jack to remove the coil spring. Remove the body-to-trailing arm bolts and finally, remove the trailing arm. For installation, reverse the removal steps and ensure the rear toe adjustment cam is placed in the same position as before.
