The air filter is located inside a housing on the left (driver's) side of the engine compartment. To remove it, loosen the clamp securing the inlet tube to the air filter cover, unlatch the clamps that hold the two halves of the air cleaner housing together, then separate the cover halves and take out the air filter element. Inspect the outer surface of the filter; if it is dirty, replace it, but if it is only moderately dusty, it can be reused by blowing it clean from the back to the front with compressed air. Since it is a pleated paper type filter, it cannot be washed or oiled, and if it cannot be cleaned satisfactorily, it should be discarded and replaced. While the cover is off, take care not to drop anything into the housing, and never drive the vehicle with the air cleaner removed, as this could lead to excessive engine wear and potential fire hazards. Wipe out the inside of the air cleaner housing, then place the new filter into the housing, ensuring it seats properly. Finally, reinstall the housing in the reverse order of removal.
