Chevrolet Tracker Speedometer Cable

The Chevrolet Tracker Speedometer Cable connects the gearbox to the speedometer to ensure accurate readings in the dashboard for the driver. This flexible wire rotates with the transmission output. Its inner shaft spins a small magnet. This creates eddy currents in the gauge cup. The currents move the needle against the return spring to give a real-time speed reading. Classic Chevrolet Tracker SUVs likely have an original Speedometer Cable, while later models applied an electronic sensor, which was different from those of older vehicles that applied a mechanical system. The Speedometer Cable must be properly routed, lubricated, not bent sharply, and have crisp square ends for a snug connection in the transmission drive and gauge sockets. Damage can deform the ends, loosen fittings, or crush the casing, causing needle vibration or gauge inaction. In some installations, the upper and lower Speedometer Cable is equipped when cruise control is fitted. The upper one is connected from the gauge to the junction box. The lower one is connected to the transmission. The two Speedometer Cables are of different lengths and attachment points. Selecting the right Speedometer Cable restores reliable Chevrolet Tracker speed readings.

Each OEM Chevrolet Tracker Speedometer Cable we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Chevrolet Tracker Speedometer Cable Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to disconnect and remove the speedometer cable on Chevrolet Tracker?
    A:
Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then remove the speedometer cable from the transfer case by taking out the retaining bolt and pulling the cable free. Detach the cable from the routing clips in the engine compartment and pull it up to create enough slack for disconnection from the speedometer. Next, remove the instrument cluster screws, pull the cluster out, and disconnect the speedometer cable from the back of the cluster before removing the cable from the vehicle. Before installation, lubricate the speedometer end of the cable with spray-on speedometer cable lubricant available at auto parts stores, and then proceed with installation in the reverse order of removal.
