Chevrolet Traverse Crankshaft

Chevrolet Traverse Crankshaft provides the V6 engine with its essential capability to convert piston thrust in a straight line to smooth rotation that ultimately spins the transmission and wheels. The Crankshaft is low down in the cylinder block, with its offset crank throws connecting to connecting rods so that each up-and-down stroke of the pistons is a twist of the shaft, a simplicity of powerful mechanism employed in every modern Chevrolet crossover. Early and lower output versions are based on tough cast iron Crankshaft construction, while high horsepower trims step up to forged steel. This Crankshaft distinction makes a difference in strength rather than layout, as both styles appear across successive Traverse model years without any change to overall engine architecture. Precision machining allows bearing journals to ride on an oil film for years, but skipped oil changes or debris infiltrating the oil can scar those surfaces and cause excess clearance, metal-to-metal knock, and send nasty vibrations through the cabin. Although built to last the life of a Chevrolet, once severely worn the Crankshaft must be replaced, a demanding task involving removing the entire engine from the Traverse and carefully torquing numbered main bearing caps to factory specs.

Each OEM Chevrolet Traverse Crankshaft we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Chevrolet Traverse Crankshaft Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove a crankshaft on Chevrolet Traverse?
    A:
To begin the process of removing the crankshaft, you measure endplay using a dial indicator or feeler gauges. Then remove the main bearing caps and finally the crankshaft itself. The engine block and crankshaft must be cleaned and inspected before installation. After removal of old main bearing caps and inserts, new ones are put in their place. Plastigage is used to check the main bearing oil clearance, and in some cases different bearing inserts may be necessary. When clearance is correct, Plastigage is removed and the crankshaft lifted out of the block of cylinders. The surfaces on which bearings are placed are oiled again for lubrication as it should be done before putting back the shaft into position. After that, tighten up your main bearing caps in sequence while checking your endplay one more time. And finally install rear main oil seal.
