The transmission end of all one-piece driveshafts have a splined yoke and all of the assembled driveshafts have another universal joint where the driveshaft connects to the pinion flange at the end toward the differential. These universal joints are non-repairable; however, they are lubricated for life and if a joint becomes worn or noisy, the service kit, including the cross and bearing assemblies, snap-rings can be supplied to replace the nylon injection rings used during the manufacture. The whole driveshaft has to be changed for servicing and when doing this great care must be taken to ensure that they balance as they were when they left the factory. Also, care must be taken in order not to get undercoating or any other material on the driveshaft as this will affect the balance that the manufacturer has provided.
