How to remove and install the hood cable assembly on Pontiac Firebird?

Hood latch cable is a one piece unit, which comprises of the pull handle, control cable and housing. To uninstall it, open the hood chaperon and disconnect the cable from the primary hood latch assembly being very careful not to let the hood close and lock when the cable is disconnected. Release the cable from the body and then, after that, unbolt and take out the side trim panel on the side of the driver seat. Remove the control assembly housing from the cable handle cutout in the trim panel and pull out the cable assembly from the panel, then pass the cable through the firewall if possible. Installation is quite the reverse of the removal, making sure that the sealing grommet used in the dash panel is affixed before installation.
