How do you remove the shift lever assembly?

Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Remove the center console. Remove the shift cable end from the pin on the shift lever assembly. Disconnect any electrical connectors to the shift lever assembly. Disconnect the shift interlock solenoid from the shifter assembly. Remove the four shift lever assembly mounting bolts and lift the assembly out. If the assembly is being replaced, transfer any parts as necessary. Installation is the reverse of removal.
