To remove the fuel tank, start by relieving the fuel system pressure and disconnecting the negative battery terminal. Then, raise the vehicle and secure it on jackstands. Remove the exhaust system underneath the fuel tank and loosen the hose clamp to disconnect the fuel filler neck hose. If there is still fuel in the tank, siphon or hand-pump it out through the filler neck pipe. Disconnect the EVAP recirculation hose and the electrical connector from the EVAP canister. Disconnect the quick-connect fittings for the fuel and EVAP lines, and if necessary, disconnect the rear stabilizer bar. Ensure that all accessible fuel lines and wiring are disconnected. Support the fuel tank with a floor jack and block of wood, remove the fuel tank strap bolts, and lower the tank slightly to disconnect the upper fuel lines. Check that all lines and wiring are disconnected, then lower the tank on the right side until it clears the frame and continue lowering and moving it forward to remove it from the right side of the vehicle. To install, simply reverse the removal process.
