- Q: How to remove and install a condenser in a Toyota Matrix and Pontiac Vibe cooling system?A: To remove the condenser, first discharge and recover the refrigerant, then remove the Radiator and disconnect the condenser inlet and outlet fittings, capping them immediately to prevent contamination. On Pontiac models, remove the receiver-drier before removing the condenser. Remove the condenser mounting bolts, angle it back, and lift it out. To install the condenser, ensure the rubber cushions fit properly on the mounting points, then reconnect the refrigerant lines with new O-rings where needed. If a new condenser is installed, add 1.5 to 2.0 fluid ounces of new, R-134a-compatible refrigerant oil. Reinstall remaining parts in reverse order, refill the cooling system, and have the system evacuated, charged, and leak tested.
