- A:To remove the upper control arm, start by loosening the wheel lug nuts and raising the front of the vehicle on jackstands. Remove the wheel and position a floor jack under the lower control arm to relieve spring pressure on the upper control arm. Disconnect the wheel speed sensor wiring harness and unscrew the nut from the ball joint pinch bolt, removing the pinch bolt completely. Disconnect the upper control arm from the steering knuckle, using a chisel if necessary to spread it slightly. Unscrew the upper control arm pivot bolts and remove the control arm. To install, reverse the removal steps, tightening the control arm pivot bolts and ball joint pinch bolt and nut to the specified torque. Finally, tighten the wheel lug nuts to the specified torque and have the front-end alignment checked and adjusted if necessary.Posted by GMPartsGiant Specialist
