To remove the steering column, start by parking the vehicle with the wheels pointing straight ahead and disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Disable the airbag system and remove the steering wheel, ensuring the ignition key is turned to the LOCK position to prevent the steering shaft from turning. Remove the knee bolster and the reinforcement behind it, and if the vehicle has a tilt column, pull out the tilt lever. Proceed to remove the steering column shrouds and disconnect the electrical connectors for the steering column harness and body harness. Unscrew the screw securing the left heater duct and disconnect its temperature sensor before removing the duct. Remove the shaft coupler nut and the bolt securing the steering shaft to the upper intermediate shaft. Finally, remove the steering column mounting nuts, lower the column, and pull it to the rear, ensuring nothing is still connected. Separate the intermediate shaft from the steering shaft and remove the column. To install the steering column, guide it into position, connect the intermediate shaft, and install the mounting nuts without tightening them yet. Install the coupler bolt and nut, tightening the nut to the specified torque. Finally, tighten the column mounting nuts to the specified torque, and complete the installation by reversing the removal process.

The steering column mounting nuts should be removed, the column should be lowered, and then pulled to the rear while ensuring nothing is still connected.
