Q:
How to remove Blower Motor,Heater Core and A/C Switch in Oldsmobile Cutlass? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the blower motor and inlet assembly on 1974-1977 models, start by removing the right front inner fender panel. Disconnect the wiring at the lower assembly and remove the 5 nuts and 2 screws securing the inlet assembly to the dash panel. Pull the entire assembly straight off the studs and remove it from the inner fender panel. The blower motor can be separated from the inlet assembly by removing the attaching screws. For the air distribution duct and core, locate the heater core within the heater case under the dashboard. Disconnect the battery and drain the radiator and heater hoses. Remove the heater case attaching nuts and screws from inside the engine compartment. Inside the car, disconnect the control cables and remove the entire case assembly from the dash panel. The core can now be easily removed from within the case. To remove the A/C switch assembly, disconnect the negative battery cable and remove the screws from the steering column trim cover. Remove the knobs from the heater control and radio. Remove the four screws from the front of the control panel and carefully pull the control panel assembly from the instrument panel until the heater control can be disconnected. Remove the screws that attach the A/C switch to the panel and disconnect the lower switch connector and control cables. For 1978-1980 models, to remove the blower assembly, remove the glove box and disconnect the electrical connectors at the blower motor. Remove the attaching screws and pull the blower motor assembly away from the heater module. To remove the heater core, disconnect the negative battery cable and drain the cooling system. Disconnect the heater hoses and the electrical connectors at the blower motor. Remove the front module cover screws and move the front cover with the blower motor attached away from the heater module. Remove the heater core from inside the heater module. To remove the A/C switch assembly, disconnect the negative battery cable and remove the instrument panel lower trim cover. Remove the four control mounting screws and pull the control unit out far enough to disconnect all electrical connectors and cables. If air conditioning is fitted, disconnect the vacuum lines. Remove the A/C switch assembly.
