Q:
How do I remove rear Wheel Hub for Buick LaCrosse? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the rear wheel hub and bearing assembly on a 2009 and earlier model, start by loosening the rear wheel lug nuts and blocking the front wheels. Then, raise the rear of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the rear wheels and the brake disc. If the vehicle is equipped with ABS, disconnect the wire harness for the wheel speed sensor. Remove the hub mounting bolts and detach the hub assembly from the knuckle. For installation, reverse the removal steps, making sure to install the hub and bearing assembly in the correct direction for the ABS wheel speed sensor if equipped. Tighten the new hub and bearing mounting bolts to the specified torque. Adjust the parking brake, install the wheel and lug nuts, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque. For a 2010 and later model, the removal process is slightly different. Loosen the rear wheel lug nuts and, on AWD models, the drive-axle/hub nut. Raise the rear of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands, then remove the wheel. Block the front wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling off the stands. On AWD models, remove the rear driveaxle/hub nut. Remove the brake disc and the ABS wheel speed sensor. If the model has RPO GNC rear suspension, remove the upper control arm. If it has PRO GNE rear suspension, remove the coil spring. Remove the bolts and detach the hub and bearing assembly from the knuckle. On AWD models, guide the driveaxle stub shaft out of the hub splines. If it sticks, use a rubber mallet or brass hammer to tap it out, or a puller if necessary. For installation, reverse the removal steps, tightening the hub and bearing bolts to the specified torque. On AWD models, tighten the driveaxle/hub nut to the specified torque. Finally, tighten the caliper mounting bracket bolts and caliper mounting bolts to the specified torque, install the wheel and lug nuts, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque.

A:
To remove the hub and bearing assembly, start by loosening the rear wheel lug nuts and, on AWD models, the rear driveaxle/hub nut. To install, reverse the removal steps, ensuring to tighten the hub and bearing bolts, caliper mounting bracket bolts, and caliper mounting bolts to the correct torque specifications. For AWD models, tighten the driveaxle/hub nut to the proper torque specifications.
