To remove the latch, start by scribing a line around it for alignment purposes. Then, remove the retaining bolts that secure the hood latch to the radiator support. Disconnect the hood release cable from the latch assembly by disengaging it. To remove the cable, detach it from the latch assembly and unclip all remaining cable retaining clips. If needed, remove the driver's side kick panel and detach the cable from the hood release lever in the passenger compartment. In some models, removing the inner fender splash panel may be necessary to access and detach the cable from the clips. Pull the cable and grommet rearward into the passenger compartment until the wire or string is visible. Attach the wire or string to the new cable, ensuring that the new cable has a grommet attached. Pull the wire or string back through the firewall until the new cable reaches the latch assembly. Reinstall the new cable into the hood release lever in the passenger compartment, using pliers if necessary to crimp the retaining clip. The remaining installation steps are the reverse of the removal process.
